THE TRUTH OF OUR CONSTITUTION AND FOREFATHERS

Posted on June 20, 2016 by pastor Posted in Uncategorized

(Day – 3)
Thomas Jefferson said, “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; That a revolution of the wheel of fortune, a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in that event.” –Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237.

Don’t attempt to lie and claim America was not built on principles of the Bible, God’s Holy Word. The Constitution was truly structured by Christian principles.

FYI – Who is Thomas Jefferson?
Thomas Jefferson (April 13 [O.S. April 2] 1743 – July 4, 1826) was an American Founding Father who was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776). He was elected the second Vice President of the United States (1797–1801), serving under John Adams and in 1800 was elected the third President (1801–09). – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

THE TRUTH OF OUR CONSTITUTION

(Day 2)

John Adams wrote: “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever.” –Adams wrote this in a letter to his wife, Abigail, on July 3, 1776.

John Adams wrote in a letter to Thomas Jefferson June 28, 1813, “The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”

Don’t attempt to lie and claim America was not built on principles of the Bible, God’s Holy Word. The Constitution was truly structured by Christian principles.

John Adams “(October 30 [O.S. October 19] 1735 – July 4, 1826) was an American lawyer, author, statesman, and diplomat. He served as the second President of the United States (1797–1801), the first Vice President (1789–97),[1] and as a Founding Father was a leader of American independence from Great Britain.” – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

THE TRUTH OF THE CONSTITUTION AND FOREFATHERS

Day 1

Patrick Henry said it best when he said: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded assylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here.”

Don’t attempt to lie and claim America was not built on principles of the Bible, God’s Holy Word. The Constitution was truly structured by Christian principles.

FYI – Who is Patrick Henry?
Patrick Henry (May 29, 1736 – June 6, 1799) was an American attorney, planter and politician who became known as an orator during the movement for independence in Virginia. A Founding Father, he served as the first and sixth post-colonial Governor of Virginia, from 1776 to 1779 and from 1784 to 1786. – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

THE GODLY STRUGGLE

Posted on June 5, 2016 by pastor Posted in Uncategorized

1Ti 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” Let us begin with the first phrase, “Fight the good fight” which literally means “agonizing a good agony.”  Living godly is a struggle. Yet, one who agonizes well, lives God honoring in and through the battle while under tremendous stress and pressure. It is not simply getting through it (which you will), but it is getting through it honorably.  How does one live honorably while under great stress and pressure? God always provides the answer if one keeps reading. Notice the next phrase, “lay hold on eternal life.” In others words do not wait to enjoy the hope of living in heaven, but enjoy the hope of living eternal now, today.  The key is to live eternal life today as God’s child. Turn from fleshly life and seeking to please self. We should rather live the life being owned of God.  Too many believers lay hold of fleshly entertainment living and not eternal, God glorifying living. One sign (among many) of living in the flesh is always looking to the future (can’t wait for Friday), rather than an insistence in the present to honor Christ and enjoy life as we work for Him in all that we do.

The next phrase tells us “whereunto though are also called.” Two important truths here:
1) “Calling” coveys it is not really an option.  Falling short of one’s calling is to miss out on life now and in the future upon earth. It is not missing eternal life, but missing out on the special honor of blessing in our eternal life to come, which one shall have.
2) Calling also conveys one’s very purpose of life. There is no greater joy and hope (contentment with honor) in life than to fulfill one’s divine, ordained purpose (destination) joyfully.

In so doing the rest of verse falls into play naturally and normally, “and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” Wow! What a grand life in Christ to live as one agonizes honorably a good agony for Christ!
